Office Renovation

The partial refurbishment within an existing residential building was to provide a common lobby, three office spaces, an executive office and a representative conference room. A time-use consideration showed us a striking discrepancy regarding the use of the conference room: occupied by far the least time this room was to be the most elaborate in both material and equipment of the entire office. Correspondingly, it was known that the executive office, shared by the two CEOs of the company, was also only sporadically occupied.

Therefore, we opted to present the conference room rather than hide it and interlock it with the executive office into one spatial unity. A small informal meeting corner forms a hinge between the two parts of the space. In addition, this arrangement allows daylight to enter the center of the building via the executive office. The exhibition of a space within a larger spatial context can be read as the staging of organizational operations. The conference room thus forms the spatial center of the office and performs its role as a representative framework for the company’s team effort.
